About Willin'n in Weslaco Shakespeare Festival

Will’n in Weslaco is the Rio Grande Valley’s first and only annual Shakespeare festival. Every spring, Weslaco citizens, businesses, and our public institutions celebrate one play by the Immortal Bard. With an army of dedicated volunteers and a warm list of generous patrons, all proceeds go to supporting our public institutions.

Why a Shakespeare festival?  Because his work provides an ideal means for uniting a diverse community.  Live performances of Shakespeare’s plays invite a public gathering to celebrate the profound and popular, while the beauty and depth of his poetry entice a diverse array of artists and academics.

More than four hundred years after publication, Shakespeare continues to be read, performed, studied, and celebrated not because he is old or traditional, but because he speaks beautifully and profoundly about the human condition. Shakespeare is admired across different times and cultures because his brilliance as a poet stems from his genius as a philosopher.

Beautiful, true, and good, Shakespeare is enjoyed by all because he speaks to all.
