Steve Urbina

Director

I am humbled to work with some of the most creative, passionate individuals in the Rio Grande Valley.  It is truly amazing to see the process of a collection of individuals from different backgrounds working toward the same creative goal, bringing words on paper to life.

This show was scheduled for March 2020 but as we all know the world changed.  We paused and pivoted to online programs, but nothing beats a live in-person show.  We are grateful to be here and share this 2-year project in the making.

I would like to thank Mayor David Suarez, City Manager Mike Perez, Parks Director Omar Rodriguez, and the City of Weslaco for keeping The Tower Theater going for over fifty-two years.
There is nothing like The Tower Theater in the great State of Texas.  Finally, to Rise Morris and The Mid Valley Civic Theatre for being there with us at every step.  Rise’s mother, Shirley Atkins, was the force behind the Tower Theatre for decades.  It was their commitment that kept the Tower shows going.  We hope to continue this legacy for decades to come.  Our purpose is to have people experience the magical experience of live theatre.

Please join us April 7th-9th for our 3rd annual Shakespeare Festival and Shakes-Beer festival.  Tickets are available at now on our website and at the ticket office. Our Shakes-Beer Festival will have six original beers brewed from by the Border Brewers!

CAST

Picture

Miranda – Valir Flores

Valir Flores is a 20-year-old artist and animal lover who has been acting for about ten years. Though they had been in multiple plays and musicals before, their acting career really took off when they were also bit by a radioactive Neil Shuford (see Noah McGinnis), who encouraged them to really come out of their shell. Valir is extremely excited to finally see this production come together!

Dr. Kildare - Devon Smittkamp

Devon Smittkamp is a Minnesota native (dontcha knooow) that relocated to the RGV in 2013. He is a local business owner and currently manages a zoo. For clarification, “The Zoo” is the name he affectionately gives for his home. With a wife, four kids, two dogs, a cat, and a chameleon, his life as a zookeeper is rarely boring. He acted in many plays as a young child but is making his return to the stage after 17 long years in hibernation.

Tully Mansley- Vicente Reyna

Vicente Reyna is a veteran of the stage; he's acted in numerous productions since the late 1900s and has been with ITheatre since its humble beginnings. He practices his acting chops with local run-ins w the law. Feel free to meet him at his dressing room, single-file line, for free hugs. (Clothing optional)

Robert – Neil Shuford

Neil Shuford was bit by the theatre bug early. 30 years ago in fact, when he was in kindergarten. Since then, he has gradually filled his life with theatre. He's acted in and directed numerous plays and films, gotten his BA in theatre, and currently teaches high school Theatre Arts. A big thank you goes out to Neil's lovely fiancée Erica for putting up with him during his constant rehearsals.

Clarice - Gaby Jones

Gaby Jones was introduced to the world of theatre after she was dared by her classmate to audition for her high school’s Fall musical “Annie”. After landing the role of Ms. Hannigan her freshman year, she was hooked. From there, Gaby has performed in over 40 shows throughout the Valley, New York, England, and Germany.

Terez Cadotte - Stage Manager

Terez Cadotte is Canada’s best-kept secret.  Our neighbor to the north has graced us with their best citizen.  Thank you for your creative skills and for keeping all of us in check.
